BUILDING PATHWAYS
TO PROSPERITY

The Indigenous Incubator Foundation (IIF) is a federally incorporated not-for-profit focused on empowering Indigenous peoples in Calgary and Alberta. Building on the work of Indigenous Incubator Inc. (III), IIF was created to address critical workforce development gaps private industry couldn’t meet.

Our mission is to provide the skills, training, mentorship, and support necessary to overcome barriers and create pathways for success in high-demand, long-term career opportunities.

OUR VISION

To empower Indigenous peoples in Calgary, Alberta, and beyond by providing the skills, resources, and opportunities necessary to thrive in today’s high-demand labor markets, thereby fostering economic self-sufficiency, cultural pride, and long-term success.

Dedicated to preparing Indigenous peoples for success in high-demand sectors, the Indigenous Incubator Foundation (IIF) offers training, mentorship, and hands-on opportunities. IIF addresses labor market gaps by empowering individuals with essential skills for industries like construction, technology, and healthcare. Partnering with Indigenous communities, industry, and government, we create sustainable pathways to employment and economic growth.

We believe that true reconciliation includes access to economic opportunities. That’s why every program and partnership we create is designed to honor Indigenous values while delivering skills that support long-term, community-driven livelihoods.

the change

Whether you’re an employer, industry leader, educator, policymaker, student, or community ally, there are many ways to support our mission and uplift Indigenous communities across Alberta and beyond.

At IIF, we believe that transformative change happens when community, business, and government work together with shared purpose and mutual respect. Your engagement can help open doors, remove barriers, and shape a future where Indigenous peoples thrive in every sector of the economy.

Our Commitment to Workforce Readiness

The Indigenous Incubator Foundation offers tailored programs that bridge the gap between Indigenous talent and the needs of Canada’s high-growth industries.

SKILLED LABOUR DEVELOPMENT

Industry-specific training in construction, trades, technology, energy, and healthcare to prepare Indigenous peoples for long-term, high-paying careers. Programs are designed in collaboration with local employers and community organizations.

Technical and soft skills development, including leadership, communication, and problem-solving, to ensure participants are job-ready. Our training emphasizes a holistic approach, integrating both career readiness and personal development.

One-on-one guidance, coaching, and career navigation with support from industry professionals and cultural mentors. Our mentorship network includes both Indigenous leaders and sector specialists.

Collaboration with private sector, educational institutions, and government to align training programs with labor market needs and facilitate job placements. Our partnerships are structured to ensure outcomes-based support for both employers and participants.

Embedding Indigenous values, teachings, and traditions into all aspects of programming to foster cultural pride and identity. Elders and Knowledge Keepers play a key role in guiding and validating our programs.

Career-building opportunities such as internships, apprenticeships, and placements to provide experience and confidence. We support transition-to-employment through customized pathways that include resume support, interview prep, and wraparound services.

Our dedicated Indigenous Youth Work Experience Program provides hands-on training and job placements in key fields such as janitorial services, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, construction, landscaping, STEM, and the arts. By exposing youth to a variety of career paths through practical experience, we nurture both technical ability and personal growth.
